We’re not saying it isn’t true (because it is). But it’s B.S because you don’t have the luxury of time to be making mistakes and advancing your personal and professional development inch by inch, year by year.
Over the last two decades of growing our own firms, we’ve discovered successful systems that can increase leads, revenue, and confidence for any practice, in any practice area.
We spent year after year taking one step forward and two steps back to figure out these frameworks for our own successful law firms. Now, with combined decades of experience, 75+ team members, and heads packed full of knowledge, we’re sharing everything we’ve learnt.
Passionate about uniting families and protecting rights, but aware of the challenges facing immigrants, Jim opened Hacking Immigration Law to exclusively handle immigration matters.
To this day, Hacking Immigration Law has helped thousands of families and stood beside more than 500 immigrants who proudly became U.S. citizens across all key areas of citizenship including: Green Cards, family-based visas, spouse and employment visas, asylum and full citizenship rights - and it all started here.
A true sliding doors moment, Tyson sat down for Jim’s college course: Law Practice Management, at St. Louis University. This course was a precursor to the Maximum Lawyer podcast as Jim invited expert guest speakers to help students get ready for the challenges of running their own firms.
On the other side of the lectern, and having served in the army as a medic, Tyson saw first-hand the challenges that armed forces personnel faced in putting their lives back together and set out to become a lawyer to help people do just that.
With Tyson sitting front and center of Jim’s college course, the spark was lit for what would become a globally-recognized podcast, thriving Facebook community, and successful collaboration of lawyers from around the world.
In 2010, Tyson opened Mutrux Firm Injury Lawyers to make good on his promise to help clients put pieces of their lives back together.
Handling personal injury litigation cases throughout Missouri and Illinois, Tyson and his team fought every day to protect the safety of their community whether through settlements or in court.
In 2016, Jim and Tyson took the plunge and started their own podcast. They figured, since they were having so many valuable conversations, why not start recording them?
Naming the podcast “Maximum Lawyer” to reflect the goal of helping people be the best lawyers possible, their mission was to give advice they wished someone had given them in their own business-building phase.
With the podcast a bonafide hit (together they’d go on to record weekly episodes for 6 and a half years without fail), the guys created the Maximum Lawyer Facebook Group the same year to provide more practical ways to support their growing audience.
Jim and Tyson hosted the first Maximum Lawyer Conference - MaxLawCon. This was the first of an annual conference that would bring together law firm proprietors, industry leaders, and legal influencers to accelerate firm growth.
MaxLawCon was (and is) all about delivering quick, snackable business-building content that wasn’t dull, dry or designed to put attendees to sleep in their seats (you know the type of conferences we’re talking about!).

Like Netflix passwords and guacamole, the boys believe success is best when shared.
With the Facebook group booming, The Guild was launched to support lawyers and entrepreneurs who had specific goals for their careers and businesses. From fixing staffing issues to bursting past seven-figure revenue and countless other targets, this was ground zero for growth.
As a highly exclusive group, Jim and Tyson poured everything they’d learnt into The Guild including a private members-only community, weekly accountability meetings, live virtual events, and the ‘Maximum Lawyer in Minimum Time’ program sharing their exact growth playbook at every stage of the game.
In 2024, Maximum Lawyer reached a pivotal milestone as co-founder Jim Hacking retired from the business, passing the torch to Tyson Mutrux to lead the community into its next chapter. With Tyson at the helm, Maximum Lawyer has embraced a bold vision for the future, building on its foundation of collaboration and innovation to deliver even more value to law firm owners. Tyson has stepped up with fresh energy and strategic initiatives, positioning Maximum Lawyer to expand its impact, grow its membership, and continue helping attorneys scale their firms while reclaiming time, money, and peace of mind.
