Tyson Mutrux
And I’m Tyson music’s was up Jimmy. Hey, Tyson, it’s

Jim Hacking
good to be here with you. Hi, everybody. So glad to see you. I’m excited to see all of you. I know, we got a lot of different states representing so let me hear it for Texas. Let me hear it for Georgia. Let me hear it for Ohio. The thing that makes me so excited is that we have so few people from Missouri. And it’s not that we don’t love our Missouri fans. It’s that you guys all came in from all over. And that’s very impressive. And it’s and we’re very grateful for that

Tyson Mutrux
way. Well, let’s hear from Missouri. Come on. Alright, it’s not too bad, not too bad. So it’s funny. So we the beginning of this presentation is beginning with gratitude. I think it’s what we named it. And it’s funny. So around the dinner table every night, almost every night, we start with these three questions, you know, and one of them is what are you grateful for? So we kind of want to start with saying something that we’re grateful for. And I was kind of thinking about, okay, what are we gonna say? What are the what are the typical things? And I mean, I’m just gonna say I’m grateful for the group. Yeah, I mean, this is incredible that everyone coming together and seeing the Facebook group yesterday, like just lighting up, I’m on my way to St. Louis. I’m more to St. Louis. And just the technology that’s built to unite us. It’s just amazing. It’s really great to see all this. So we’re extremely grateful that you are willing to come to St. Louis, we know it’s not a destination city, it’s not. But you all are willing to come here. And it’s really amazing. July

25 2016, that was the first episode of maximum lawyer and for the first 10. As Gary said, we just it was just us talking. And we never thought I didn’t think that it would ever grow into something like this. But Tyson is right, we do want to begin in gratitude. And I want to encourage each of you to take 60 seconds, and to close your eyes, and to think about something that you’re grateful for something that you’ve accomplished either since last year’s conference, or maybe just in the last 90 days. So we’re going to chill for a second. Go ahead and turn to the person, someone you don’t know someone nearby to your left or to your right, and share with them the thing that you’re grateful for.

Jim Hacking
Okay, everybody, I’m glad you all got a chance to share. So the three things that we wanted to start off with today, number one was to begin in gratitude. The next suggestion that we have is to be present. We’ve all been to conferences, and we’ve had times where we’re responding to emails or motions from bad attorneys on the other side, people we want to get, and we’ve all been distracted. So to the extent that you can be present with each other, be present here. Use these next two days to really focus on your practice, focus on yourself. One of the things that I’m really focused on is improving our lives and improving ourselves. Because to the extent that we do things better for ourselves, we’re improving our firm. Yeah, and

Tyson Mutrux
I think that we go to these conferences, and it’s sort of a blur, and all these things are coming at us. And so really just absorb it, take it in. But there’s some does want to say the two is when you go home, I mean, you’re here and you’re you’re sort of doing business stuff, you’re building relationships, when you go home and a couple of days, be present when you get back to so make sure when you get home with your families, I’m sure my wife’s can be ready. Whenever I get back with our three kids. She’s going to wait for me to be back and so I want to make sure I’m present so get it out of your system over the next couple of days you know really just absorb what we’re what we’re doing here. And because we’ve got some great presentation, some great people coming from all over the country to share with you just incredible knowledge and so absorb that take it in be present. But then tonight whenever we’ve got you’ve got some live music and you’re you’re talking with people build those lifelong relationships because I mean last year, I’ve got people that are like some of my best friends now that I’ve met last year it’s it’s incredible and you will develop those relationships. One of our biggest worries with this thing growing so much is that that won’t happen anymore. And I think this is a testament to all of you that is happening last night. There were so many people just hanging out with each other talking like they knew each other for life for a lifetime. Do the same thing tonight. Get don’t don’t be afraid to reach out to someone. If you see someone in a corner not talking anybody go talk to him. It because you’ll learn some really new things about him.

Jim Hacking
And Tyson just mentioned the event we have tonight we haven’t done a very good job of explaining In the social stuff, so tonight, we’re going to stop around five, and then this room is going to be transformed into a concert venue. Man Pete’s also can his band and another band are going to be performing here tonight, from seven to 10, we’re gonna have free food, free booze, so please be sure to join us. There’s time in there in between if you want to get dinner, but like I said, we’re gonna have food and drink. The last thing that we wanted to encourage you to do was to be vulnerable, there’s gonna be a lot of people presenting, and they’re going to tell you the amazing things that they’re doing. And those things are truly amazing. But at the same time, I think that the way that we connect with each other is by talking about the things that we struggle with my talk in particular is going to be focused on some of the things that I’ve struggled with over the years to get to this point here today. But to the extent that you don’t have to front and Max, and you can just go ahead and talk to each other. And be honest about the things that you’re struggling with, I have a suggestion if you’re willing to listen to it. And that is, think about one thing that you want to improve. And then as you meet each person today, ask them, How would you improve that one thing, and you’re gonna come back here with 20 ideas, just from that those interactions that have nothing to do with what happens here on stage. So I heard that suggested at a prior conference, and I did it myself, and I found it very helpful.

Tyson Mutrux
I think it’s, I think it’s really good advice. I’m gonna punch you in the gut tomorrow morning. I know that Jimmy’s gonna be very vulnerable this afternoon. I’m going to punch in the gut tomorrow morning. It’s not gonna all be about you know, you know, pounding our chests and everything else. That’s not what this conference is about is a little bit different. I think you’ll know that by now. So tomorrow morning, I’m gonna punch in the gut and get you thinking. So just get ready for that be ready to be vulnerable, because it’s gonna happen. Got it. Good. All right.

Jim Hacking
Gary spent some time yesterday talking about where we’ve been and where we’re headed. And so, you know, we have 150, but we’re just about at our 150th episode, we’re coming up on our three year anniversary of the show. We have that Facebook group that’s really grown and it’s become its own organic thing. And somebody said that this group that we’ve built is sort of crowd sourced or open sourced. And I really liked that, because so much of the value that’s come from the conference has come from you guys, and the interactions that we have on a daily basis. I was really heartened last a couple of weeks ago, when a new member, Taylor Darby got on the Facebook on a Sunday night. And he’s basically said, running a law firm is lonely. How do you guys get through the mental stress of being on your own, and he posted that I think it was on a Sunday night, around nine o’clock, when I got up the next morning at six, there were 60 comments to that post. Tyson I then had him on the show. And we talked it through. And frankly, it’s one of my favorite episodes. And then this Sunday, Taylor got back on the Facebook group, and he posted about what a supportive and loving group this is. And that just makes me very happy. Because all this work is worth it. If we help one person and if we can help more than one person, it’s that much better.

Tyson Mutrux
I think I call it the crowdsource podcast. I think I’m nothing was me. It was and it really is. I mean, I think all the credit goes to each of you. I think we also need give some credit to Can’t we don’t talk about Cantona

Jim Hacking
man cats. Yes.

Tyson Mutrux
I mean, this thing has grown quite a bit because of cats. But it’s also grown because of each of you. You know, those of you that we’ve had on the podcast, those of you that we’ve not Jim Hart, we will get you on the podcast. Because it’s all about your stories. It really is. It’s not about us. It’s about all of you. So thank you so much.

Jim Hacking
Alright, so Tyson has something fun planned for the end of our little episode here.

Tyson Mutrux
Yeah, so who in here traveled on a plane and they’re your kids expect you to bring back a toy. Okay, so I don’t have that many toys. But kiddos, you’re ready to hand out some toys. Guys. I’m gonna hand them down to you Stay there. Stay there. Sorry. Your hands up. He’ll give them the give them out to people that we can. There’s not enough for everybody, but we’ll hand them out. Don’t open the toys. Oh, hey, there is one toy that’s half open because Hudson got a little excited. But you know, it’s a free toy. Yeah. All right. Thank you all.
